A RESOLUTION APPROVING A SUPPLY PROCUREMENT AGREEMENT BETWEEN
CONTINENTAL BRIDGE, A DIVISION OF CONTINENTAL MFG., INC. AND THE
CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO, FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF A 100 FT. X 10 FT.
PREFABRICATED STEEL PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE FOR THE CITY OF ASPEN, AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAID AGREEMENT ON BEHALF
OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO.
WHEREAS, there has been submitted to the City Council a
supply procurement agreement between Continental Bridge, a
division of Continental Mfg., Inc. and the City of Aspen, a true
and accurate copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ASPEN, COLORADO:
That the City Council of the City of Aspen hereby approves
that supply procurement agreement between Continental Bridge, a
division of Continental Mfg., Inc. and the City of Aspen, a copy
of which is annexed hereto and incorporated herein, and does
hereby authorize the City Manager of the City of Aspen to execute
said agreement on behalf of the City of Aspen.

between the City of Aspen. Colorado. hereinafter referred to as the "City" and the Vendor identified
hereinbelow.
WHEREAS, the City of Aspen wishes to purchase the item(s) described below in accordance with
the terms and conditions outlined in this Supply Procurement Agreement along with all appended
documents referenced herein; and
WHEREAS. the Vendor identified herein wishes to sell the item(s) described below in accordance
with the same terms and conditions.

The parties acknowledge and understand that this Suppl)' Procurement Agreement is, except as
specifically amended hereinabove, subject to all of the tenns and conditions set forth in the General
Conditions for Supply Procurement Agreements, a copy of which is appended hereto as Appendix
"An and by this reference made a part hereof.
Having agreed to the above and foregoing, the parties hereto do affix their signatures.

These specifiCAtiOns are fot fully engineered, clear span bridges of steel
construction and shall be regarded as minimum standards for design and
constrllction. Dridges shall be designed and manufactured by a C<lmpllny that
specializes in this type of work and that has been doms so for a minimum of S
yeatS.
Ocometry:

2. Bridge Inside deck width shall be 10' . 0".
3. Rlliling height (top of tnlSS top chord) shall be 411" above top of ~k.
4. Truu shall be designed with one dla~onal per panel.
5. Camber at center of bridge span shall be 2.~% of the total bridge span.
6. Horizontal safety rails shall be provided with a maximum clear spacing of 6" lIS
specified by American Association of State Highway and Transportation
Officials.
1.2 Quality Assurance
A. Design LoacUngs:
1. Bridge floor system shall be designed for a uniform live load of 85 pounds per
square foot (psf) per AASHTO.
2. Bridge trusse~ shall be desi~ed for 8. uniform live load of 75 psf.
3, A vehicle load of 10.000 pounds plus a uniform live load of 20 psf shall also be
used in the design of the floor system and the trUSles.
4. The bridge bearing plates are not to be anchored to the abutments, but tie-back
wire ropo Is to Ile secured to une end ot \he truSS (not in contract).

infonnation, such as memJer sizes, bridge support reactions, and general noles
shall be clearly specified on the clrawings.
3. Shop drllwings shall be RCCW1l.tely' prepared by skilled drllt'txmen to be complete
in every r~KJllWt. Dn.wlngs shall have cross referenced details and ,heet
numbers. All drawings shalt be signed ana sealed by a Regislered Professional
Bnglneer.
Design Calculations: Submit 2 sets. signed and sealed by a Registered Professional
Engineer.

prevent damage to the finish of the brldge.
The unloading, splicing, and placement of the brld~e wllJ be the responsibility of
