A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO,
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF THE COOPERATION AND EXCHANGE
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITIES OF KATSUYAMA IN FUKUI PREFECTURE,
JAPAN AND ASPEN, COLORADO.
WHEREAS, Katsuyama and Aspen believe that exchange and cooperation between our
citizens will further our mutual goals of creating communities that cherish their unique histories,
nurture the spirit of our citizens and maintain balance with their natural environment.
WHEREAS, it is our hope that friendships fostered through grass-roots exchanges will
promote increased respect and understanding between the people of Aspen and Katsuyama, and
goodwill between the United States and Japan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN,
COLORADO:
That the City Council of Aspen hereby ratifies the Cooperation and Exchange
Agreement with Katsuyama, Japan signed by Mayor John Bennett on November 6, 1994.
INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Aspen on
the ~=-5~'-- dayof~ 1994.

I, Kathryn S. Koch, duly appointed and acting City Clerk do certify that the foregoing is a true
and accurate copy of that resolution adopted by the City Council of the City of Aspen, Colorado,
at a meeting held on the day hereinabove stated.

Cooperation and Exchange
Agreement
The cities of Katsuyama in Fukui Prefecture, Japan
and Aspen, Colorado U.S.A. believe that exchange and
cooperation between our citizens will further our
mutual goals of creating communities that cherish their
unique histories, nurture the spirit and maintain balance
with their natural environment. It is our hope that
friendships fostered through grass-roots exchanges will
promote increased respect and understanding between
the people of Aspen and Katsuyama, and goodwill
between the United States and Japan. Therefore, as
"friendly cities", we pledge to facilitate and encourage
cooperation through people-to-people exchanges
among the citizens of our two communities.
