A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADOt
G~ANTING A HISTORIC PROPERTY MAINTENANCE LOAN.
WHEREAS, Section 7-606(C) provides city Council with the
ability to grant a one-time, no interest loan, in an amount not to
exceed $10,000, to the owner of a historic property to assist in
maintenance costs; and
WHEREAS, Ben and Casey Clark, owners of the historic landmark
property at 500 W. Bleeker have requested a loan in order to repair
and repaint the existing siding and roof; and
WHEREAS, the repair work is to be undertaken by the lowest
bidder on the project; and
WHEREAS, the project cost is $8,100; and
WHEREAS, the applicant has demonstrated economic hardship
which has prevented the necessary maintenance work from being
completed in the past; and
WHEREAS, city Council supports the loan award in an effort to
assist owners of historic properties with the associated
maintenance costs and in order to avoid the occurance of
"demolition by neglect."
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ASPEN, COLORADO, THAT:
Section 1
That a one-time, no interest loan in the amount of $8,100!be
awarded to Ben and Casey Clark, owners of 500 W. Bleeker Street.
Section 2
That the applicant shall provide the Community Development
Director for receipts from all work completed as part of this loan.
Section 3
That the loan is to be repaid in full within ten years or when
the title is transferred, whichever is sooner. An appropriate lien
will be recorded on the property to ensure repayment.
