HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.council.056-95 . ~\- e...,.... \{ ~ ~.. z. 1/1__2 p-{{J((xJl RESOLUTION NO. 50 (Series of 1995) A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THAT CERTAIN LEASE AGREE- MENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO, AND THE ASPEN/PITKIN COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY DATED AUGUST 1, 1989, PROVIDING THAT THE HOUSING AUTHORITY RETURN CONTROL OF THE TENNIS COURTS AT TRUSCOTT PLACE TO THE CITY AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAID AMENDMENT TO THE LEASE AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF ASPEN WHEREAS, the City desires to retain the control and mainte- nance of the tennis courts located at Truscott Place, and WHEREAS, the Aspen/Pitkin County Housing Au'thority desires to return that control and maintenance to the Ci'ty of Aspen, Colorado, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO: Section 1 That the City Council of the City of Aspen hereby approves an amendment to that lease agreement dated August 1, 1989, between the City of Aspen, Colorado, and the Aspen/Pitkin County Housing Authority, a copy of which is annexed hereto and incorpo- rated herein, and does hereby authorize the City Manager to execute said Dated: ~ ~-;~~:;i~ City of Aspen. ~ 5. {7~ John . AMENDMENT TO LEASE AGREEMENT THIS AMENDMENT to that certain Lease Agreement dated August 1, 1989, between the city of Aspen, Colorado (the "City"), as lessor, and the Aspen/pitkin County Housing Authority (the "Authority"), as lessee, is entered into by the parties this day of July, 1995. WHEREAS, the City and the Authority entered into a lease agreement dated August 1, 1989, for real property referenced in the lease agreement as "the project" as described in Exhibit "A" appended thereto, and commonly referred to as the Truscott Place; and WHEREAS, the city desires to retain control and maintenance of the tennis courts located within the project; and WHEREAS, the Authority desires to return control and mainte- nance of the tennis courts to the city. NOW, THEREFORE, for and in consideration of the mutual covenants and premises hereinafter contained, the parties hereby agree as follows: 1. Exhibit "A" appended to the lease agreement is amended to exclude reference to the tennis courts so that the fourth paragraph of the "Truscott Place Description" shall read as follows: The Project is designed to be energy and cost effi- cient. The site plan provides for berming and planting along the 9th fairway to help screen the Project from the golf course. Open areas including playground and basketball and volleyball courts are provided. Covered bike storage will be provided in the existing tennis barn. As an auto-disincentive, a RFTA mini-bus will be provided and scheduled specifically for the employees." e e.'.. TRUSTCOTT PLACE DESCRIPTION Truscott Place is a combined permanent and seasonal employee housing complex administered by the Aspen/Pitkin County Housing Authority. Seasonal employees and music students will be housed in the existing structure. This existing facility contains 50 studio type rooms. Rehabilitation of the seasonal housing facility will include complete re-roofing, replacement of heating and hot water system, redesign and installation of laundry facilities, painting exterior siding and upgrading unit interiors as needed. The new permanent employee housing will consist of two near mirror image buildings, each with 23 one or two-bedroom units (see list below). The total of 46 units and 34,271 livable square feet are modular construction. The modular units will be double 2x4 walls with 1-1/2" spacing, 2xl0 @ 16" O.C. floors,2x6 @ 16" O.C. ceilings and 1/2" exterior wood siding. The modular construction will include all interior finishes, fixtures and appliances. The new complex will incorporate 2016 square feet of mechanical and storage space into the basement of the structures. The Project is designed to be energy and cost efficient.
