HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.council.007-96 e . e RESOLUTION NO. :1 (Series of 1996) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO, GRANTING A HISTORIC PROPERTY MAINTENANCE LOAN. WHEREAS, Section 7-606(C) provides City Council with the ability to grant a one- time, no interest loan, in an amount not to exceed $10,000, to the owner of a historic property to assist in maintenance costs; and WHEREAS, Jerome and Jane Hatem, owners of the historic landmark barn at 939 E. Cooper Avenue have requested a loan in order to place the barn on a foundation to deter further deterioration from moisture and rot; and WHEREAS, the project cost is in excess of $10,000; and WHEREAS, the previous use of the structure, as an outbuilding, led to it's placement directly on the ground and therefore it's deterioration over time; and WHEREAS, City Council supports the loan award in an effort to assist owners of historic properties with the associated maintenance costs and in order to avoid the occurrence of "demolition by neglect." NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO, THAT: Section 1 That a one-time, no interest loan in the amount of $10,000 be awarded to Jerome and Jane Hatem, owners of the historic landmark barn at 939 E. Cooper. e e e Section :2 That the applicant shall provide the Community Development Director for receipts from all work completed as part of this loan. Section 3 That the loan is to be repaid in full within ten years or when the title is transferred, whichever is sooner. An appropriate lien will be recorded on the property to ensure repayment.
