A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO,
AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF $1,016,000.00 FOR THE PURCHASE OF THAT
PROPERTY COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS THE HUMMINGBIRD LODE.
WHEREAS, the City of Aspen has been asked to contribute towards the purchase of the
property commonly referred to as the Hummingbird Lode in Pitkin County, Colorado; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that. the Hummingbird Lode should be
purchased to preserve it as open space for its conservation, open space, and recreational values;
and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best interests of the citizens
of the City of Aspen to fmancially contribute towards the purchase of this important open space
~. parcel.
NOW, WHEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ASPEN, COLORADO:
Section One
That the City Council of the City of Aspen hereby approves the expenditure of
$1,016,000.00 from the City's Parks and Open Space Fund as a contribution to Pitkin County
for the purchase of that property commonly referred to as the Hummingbird Lode; provided,
however, that upon the acquisition of said property by Pitkin County, the property shall
constitute "Open Space" property within the meaning of, and made subject to, all of the
provisions set forth at Article XIII of the Pitkin County's Home Rule Charter.
