'7/ Series of 1993 A RESOLUTION OF TIlE CITY COUNCIL OF TIlE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO, ENDORSING TIlE CREATION OF A MAIN STREET BUSIHOV LANE UTILIZING EXISTING MAIN STREET LANES, WITII TIlE WESTBOUND RIGHT LANE RESERVED FOR BUSESIHOV'S AND RIGHT TURNS ONLY DURING TIlE AFTERNOON PEAK PERIOD (3:30-6:00 PM, MON.-FRI.). WHEREAS, in July, 1993 the Aspen City Council approved the Aspen Transportation Implementation Plan, based on the transportation element of the Aspen Area Community Plan; and WHEREAS, at City Council's direction, a staff committee composed of representatives of the Transportation Department, the Police Department, the Streets Department the Engineering Department and the Roaring Fork Transit Agency has developed and received CDOT approval for a plan to create a Bus/HOV Lane on Main Street between Garmisch and 7th Streets; and WHEREAS, the CDOT -approved plan consists of the features within "Option 1" and "Appendix 4" of the attached memorandum; and WHEREAS, this Bus/HOV Lane provides an incentive for transit and carpooling in the form of travel time savings for buses and HOV's, thereby helping to accomplish the community goal of reducing traffic congestion, vehicle miles travelled, and PM-lO. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO, THAT the Aspen City Council hereby endorses the creation of a Main Street Bus/HOV Lane as per the features and conditions outlined in "Option 1" and graphically illustrated in "Appendix 4" of the attached memorandum. 1 -- ~_:, " ',-:: ~, ~- INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City Council of the City of Aspen on the J..J- day of ~ 1993. ~ f'.
