HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.council.118-17 RESOLUTION #118 (Series of 2017) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO, APPROVING A CONTRACT ADDENDUM BETWEEN THE CITY OF ASPEN AND MCDONOUGH CONSTRUCTION LLC AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAID CONTRACT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO. WHEREAS, there has been submitted to the City Council a contract addendum for construction services on the Old Power House, between the City of Aspen and McDonough Construction LLC, a true and accurate copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A"; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO,. That the City Council of the City of Aspen hereby approves that Contract Addendum for construction services on the Old Power House, between the City of Aspen and McDonough Construction LLC, a copy of which is annexed hereto and incorporated herein, and does hereby authorize the City Manager to execute said agreement on behalf of the City of Aspen. CIVIC SPACE RELOCATION PROJECT—ARCHITECT AND CONSTRUCTION CHANGE ORDER RECOMMENDATION Dear Jeff: The purpose of this letter is to recommend the City of Aspen accept estimate 339 from McDonough Construction LLC for the renovation work at the Old Powerhouse. BACKGROUND Gilbert Sanchez Architects has worked with the Asset Department and NV5 to prepare a set of drawings for the temporary use of the Old Powerhouse for ACRA as office space.The Old Powerhouse is slated to be renovated and restored as part of the City's master-plan,but this work is the initial effort for the near future. In the short term as part of the City Offices project,ACRA will occupy the bottom floor of the OPH. Currently,the top floor is shared by Capital Asset and the Canary Initiative. The construction includes,but not limited to:bring the OPH restrooms up to ADA code,remove existing double doors,create one walled office,provide paint,flooring, trim out the windows,make mechanical modifications to support the revised layout and provide additional power and lighting to support the revised office layout. ACRA is contracting directly with a furniture vendor to provide temporary walls,desks,chairs,etc.,as part of the use of the space. This fee is within the approved budget for the renovation and restoration of the Old Powerhouse. Council acceptance is required for change orders above$25,000. - McDonough Construction Estimate 339-$100,995.83 McDonough was contracted by the City to provide on-call construction services.Due to the tuning and nature of this work,NV5 recommends contracting with McDonough for this piece of the work. This recommendation is not a request to alter the budget or request additional current funding.
