MINUTES OF JANUARY 5~ 2004
Chairperson, Bill Dinsmoor called the meeting to order at $:30 a.m.
Commissioners in attendance: Terry Butler, Mark Goodman, Charles Kennedy
and Mark Breslin. Excused were John Start, Eric Cohen and Andrew Kole.
Saturday Market Application Revisions
Allegheny, David Powers and Maggie Dorrough were also present.
Allegheny said priority should be given to work that is produced from raw
materials. Point of origin of the raw materials needs added to the application.
Quality is another priority. It is essential that the when you purchase something
from an artist, that you meet the artist that made the work and not someone else
selling it for them.
Professionalism and the appropriateness for Aspen will be taken into
consideration. Allegheny said a lot of people will want to be at the market
during Food and Wine. Mark said Food and Wine starts June 10th. The market
will start June l0th if there is no objection from the produce vendors. Allegheny
also said he thinks artisans should not be required to stay through October.
Charles said weather and sales are two tangents. He feels the last three weeks
should be at your own liberty. At the pre-meeting June l0th the vendor will
formally meet the Market Manager. A map will be provided indicating all the
booth spaces. All vendors must have their business licenses by June 10th.
There was discussion about advertising in the Colo. Artisan. Everyone thought
that would be a benefit to the market. Charging more for a comer space came
up but the board determined that most of comers are taken up by produce
vendors. The application will be revised and sent to Maggie to get on the
market web..
Mark asked if anyone was collecting for the Tsunami victims. Bill said the
ACRA should be contacted to pull something together.
Mark also said it would be great to have ice sculptures around town.
Charles announced that he is resigning from the board.
Terry said she appreciated the depth of time and consideration Charles gave to
the board.
