HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.hpc.010-1998 RESOLUTION OF THE ASPEN HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION APPROVING AN APPLICATION FOR MINOR DEVELOPMENT AT 203 S. GALENA STREET, GUCCI, ASPEN, COLORADO RESOLUTION NO./~), SERIES OF 1998 WHEREAS the applicant, Gucci International, represented by Gensler Architects and Guy Associates has requested minor development approval for the property located at 203 S. Galena Street, the Brand Building. The property is a designated landmark and is located within the Commercial Core Historic District; and WHEREAS all development in an "H," Historic Overlay District or development involving a historic landmark must meet all four Development Review Standards of Section 26.72.010(D) of the Aspen Land Use Code in order for HPC to grant approval, namely: 1. Standard: The proposed development is compatible in general design, massing and volume, scale and site plan with designated historic structures located on the parcel and with development on adjacent parcels when the subject site is in a "H," Historic Overlay District or is adjacent to an Historic Landmark. 2. Standard: The proposed development reflects and is consistent with the character of the neighborhood of the parcel proposed for development. 3. Standard: The proposed development enhances or does not detract from the historic significance of designated historic structures located on the parcel proposed for development or on adjacent parcels. 4. Standard: The proposed development enhances or does not diminish from the architectural character or integrity of a designated historic structure or part thereof, and WHEREAS, Julie Ann Woods, in her staff reports dated July 8; 1998 and July 22, 1998, recommended approval with conditions; and WHEREAS, the application was reviewed at a regular meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission on July 8, 1998 and July 22, 1998 at which the Commission considered and approved the application with conditions by a vote of 4-2. At a regular meeting on August 5, 1998, the Commission voted to amend one of their conditions, relating to door handles, by a vote of 5-0. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That minor development approval for 203 S.. Galena Street, including approval to modify the Galena Street storefront for the Gucci store, as presented on July 22, 1998 be approved as shown. On the Hopkins Street side, the modifications are approved as presented on July 22, 1998, except for replacement of the large window, which is not approved. The door pulis on both entries may be installed and will be reviewed for approval, disapproval, or restudy by the HPC monitors assigned to the project.
