AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER I OF TITLE VI OF THE OFFICIAL
CODE OF THE CITY OF ASPEN ESTABLISHING OFFENSES REGARDING
PUBLIC ORDER AND SAFETY AND SPECIFICALLY LOITERING, BEGGING
AND SLEEPING OR LODGING IN UNAUTHORIZED PLACES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ASPEN, COLORADO:
Section 1: The Official Code of the City of Aspen
is hereby amended by adding Section to be numbered 6-1-45,
which section shall read as follows:
"6-1-45: Loitering:
It shall be unlawful for
any person or persons to be upon any public way or place of
public nature in such manner as to interfere with free and
unobstructed use of public way or place of public nature by
any other person or persons; or, to be profane, lewd or
wanton in speech or behavior in such public way or place."
Section 2: The Official Code of the City of Aspen
is hereby 'amended by adding Section to be numbered 6-1-46,
which section shall read as follows:
"6-1-46: Begging:
It shall be unlawful for
any person to wander abroad and beg; or for any person to go
about from door to door of private homes or commercial and
business establishments, or placing himself in or upon, any
public way or public place to beg or receive alms for him-
self."
Section 3: Occupying or Sleeping in
Unlawful Places:
It shall be unlawful for any
person to wander abroad and occupy, lodge, or sleep in any
vacant or unoccupied barn, garage, shed, shop or other build-
ing or structure without owning same or without permission
of the owner or person entitled to the possession of the same,
or sleeping in any vacant lot (or any public place whatsoever)
during the hours of darkness."
