AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1 OF CHAPTER I OF TITLE 2,
RELATING TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF
ASPEN.
BE IT ORDAINED BY the City Council of the City
of Aspen, Colorado:
WHEREAS, by petition submitted by registered voters
of the City of Aspen, Pitkin County, Colorado, the City
Council of the City of Aspen has been requested to enact
and adopt an ordinance under the procedure of initiative
and referendum as set forth in Colorado Revised Statutes
1963, 70-1-16.
Section 1: Section 1, Chapter I of Title 2 of the
Official Code of the City of Aspen, Cdorado is hereby amended
to read as follows:
"2-1-1: MEMBERS: QUALIFICATIONS: TERMS OF OFFICE
A City Planning Commission is hereby
established which shall consist of seven members as follows:
(a)
selected by the City Council,
term as alderman.
A member of the City Council,
who shall hold office for his
(b) Six members selected by the City
Council, who shall hold office for the term of six years, except
appointments of two members shall expire in 1972, appointments
of two members shall expire in 1974, appointments of two members
shall expire in 1976. Thereafter the terms shall be for six
years.
(c) Ail of such members shall be
residents of the City of Aspen, and no member shall be a City
employee or appointed City official. Upon the expiration of
the terms of office above stated, the City Council shall appoint
their successors who shall serve for a term of six years or until
their successors are duly appointed and qualified. Vacancies
occurring otherwise than through expiration of term shall be
filled for the remainder of the unexpired term by appointment
by the City Council. There shall be no restraint upon the
number of terms any member may serve."
INTRODUCED, READ AND ORDERED published as provided
by law by the City Council of Aspen, Colorado, at its regular
meeting held at the City of Aspen on the ~2~day of September,
