HomeMy WebLinkAboutordinance.council.010-64Series of 1964 AN OB~)XIG/K~ AMBIIDXNG TITLE XX, CHAPTER 1, THE ZONING ORDIN~iC~ OF THE CITY OF ASI~H, COLOBADO, TO PROVIDE FOR THE NUMBER A~ SI~ OF CURB CUTS IN ALL DIS~i~IC~fS, ~ l~l~I~3~l~ AN ~I~ROB~CY BE IT ORDAINED by the City council of the City of Aspen, Colorado= Section 1= The official Code of the City of Aspen is hereby amended by adding a section, to be numbered 11-1-16, which section shall read as follows= =11-1-16= Curb cuts - All Districts. (a) All curb cuts shall be approved by the Building Inspector. (b) D~iveways shall be constructed for their full width from curb to property line and shall be for ingress to and egress from private ~roperty. (c) The number and width of curb cuts for the different districts shall be as follows= (1) ~eaidentialAreas= ~riveway and curb cut widths shall be twelve feet for a single garage, and fifteen feet for a double garage at the widest l~rt of said driveway or curb cut. There shall be only one curb cut per individual parcel of land. This curb cut shall be located a miniJmAm distance of ten feet from either property side line. (2) Tourist DiStrict= In this zoned area each parcel of land shall either have one twenty foot driveway or curb cut or two twelve foot wide driveways and curb cuts. There shall be a maxilum number of two curb cuts per individual parcel of land. The minimum distance between two curb cuts on an individual parcel of land sh&ll be twenty feet. The minimum distance between curb c~ts and property side line shall be ten feet. Business District = The requirements for curb cuts and driveways in widths shall ~e the same as those in the Tourist zone with this exception= In the case of a single ~ot (30* x ~oo* or 3,000 s~are ~eet), a single c~ cut shall ~ all~d o~ tdl~ teet in width, centered ~en the pzo~rty side lines. (d) Driveway slabs shall have a minimum thickness of six inches. Mhen driveways are to cross existing side- walks, the sidewalk slabs shall be removed and drive- way slabs constructed all of the way back to the property line. (e) Unusual Conditions= Under unusual conditions, topography, drainage, existing trees on City right-of-way, existing buildings on private property, or special use requirements for the property, a variance from these requirements may be given by the City Council upon filing a written application and a plot plan showing the building site and the special conditions thereon. Section 2= The City Council of the City of Aspen, Colorado, hereby finds, determines and declares that an emergency exists~ and that this ordinance is necessary for the imaediate preservation of public paace, health and safety.
