HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.council.008-85R~COItD OF PIqOCEEDIIq~S WHEREAS, the Traffic Committee of Aspen, the Planning and Zoning Commission of Aspen and the City Council of Aspen, have been actively studying State Highway 82 from Maroon Creek to Main Street and Seventh Street, known as the Entrance to Aspen, from August 1984 to March 1985; and W~EREAS, the City Council of Aspen, the Planning and Zoning Commission of Aspen and the proposed improvements to this public meetings; and WHEREAS, on November 6, Traffic Committee of Aspen have discussed section of State Highway 82 at several 1984, Pitkin County voters voted 4,295 to improve State Highway 82 "yes" to 1095 "no' between Aspen and the Brush Creek Road intersection and 4,373 910 "no" to improve State Highway 82 to a four-lane facility the Brush Creek Road intersection and Basalt; and to a four-lane facility "yes" to between WHEREAS, prior to October 1985, the City Council of Aspen will forward at least two (2) highway and park alternatives for the Entrance to Aspen to the Colorado Department of Highways for consideration in the Wingo Junction to Aspen Environmental Impact Statement for Improvements to State Eighway 82; and WHEREAS, once the Environmental Impact Statement process is complete Aspen voters must approve the use of any open space land for highway purposes. That the City Council of Aspen urges the Colorado Department of Highways to continue making interim safety and capacity improve- ments to State Highway 82. That the City Council of Aspen urges that during the Environmen- tal Impact Statement process, Community representatives and represen- tatives of the Colorado Department of Highways work together to explore ways to create the highway as a landscaped, divided parkway appropriate to its resort service function.
