HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.council.013-84RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS 100 Leaves RESOLUTION NO. ]~P~ (Series of 1984) WHEREAS, in August, 1982, the Mayor and the City Council of the City of Aspen did appoint the Mayor's Goals Task Force to assist the citizens of Aspen in articulating their goals for the future of the community; and WHEREAS, the Task Force sought to promote public participa- tion in the goals-setting process by conducting three evening forums to which the general public-was invited for the purpose of sharing goals and ideas; and WHEREAS, the results of those forums have been compiled by the Task Force into a report known as "Goals Task Force Report, November 15, 1983", containing a clear statement of community sentiment, revealing the top priority goals of the public forums, and comparing these goals to those contained in the earlier Citi- zens Goals Task Force report of 1971; and WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that the solicitation of community goals is a task which should be completed periodically, as a basic step in monitoring and updating the community's compre- hensive plan; and WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission is currently updating the official comprehensive plan of the City of Aspen. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO: Section 1 That the Mayor's Goals Task Force for the thorough, well-thought-out approach to it conducted and for preparing a timely report for planning purposes in the City of Aspen.
