RESOLUTION NO.
Series of 1984
WHEREAS, many Roaring Fork Valley men and women are deserving
of high respect and honor for their service in the military forces
of our country during the Vietnam Era, 1960 through 1974, especially
those who have suffered physical or emotional injuries; and
WHEREAS, a recently rekindled interest in expressing the
appreciation and esteem felt by the American people for Vietnam
veterans is given heightened relevance and meaning because of the
recent armed conflict in Beirut and Grenada, which again manifest
the loyalty and dedication of our nation's service personnel to their
country; and
WHEREAS, there has not been a monument dedicated to Roaring
Fork Valley men and women who has served in our military forces during
the Vietnam Era; and
WHEREAS, a nonprofit charitable corporation named Roaring Fork
Valley Vietnam Veterans Memorial Commission has been established to
design and erect a memorial to show gratitude and respect for the men
and women of the Roaring Fork Valley who have proudly served and
sacrificed for our nation in its armed forces; and
WHEREAS, the memorial shall be identified with the Roaring
Fork Valley, shall have high visibility, and shall be harmonious
with its site and surroundings
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF ASPEN,
COLORADO:
That we support the concept of a memorial or tribute placed
in the Roaring Fork Valley to honor veterans of the war in Vietnam.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution,made on behalf of
the people of the City of Aspen, colorado, is a gesture of appreciation
and gratitude to veterans of the war in Vietnam.

Be it resolved by the Council of the Town of Aspen,
Colorado, that we support the concept of a memorial or
tribute placed in the Roaring Fork Valley to honor veterans
of the war in Vietnam. And be it further resolved that this
resolution, made on behalf of the people of the Town of Aspen
is a gesture of appreciation and gratitude to veterans of
the wer in Vietnam.
