RESOLUTION OF THE ASPEN CITY COUNCIL INITIATING AN AMENDMENT
TO T.E ASPEN ZONIN~ CODE TO CREATE A NEW ~OL~ COHRSE SUPPORT
OVERLAY ZONE OISTRICT
RESOLUTION NO.

WHEREAS, the Aspen Land Use Plan constitutes a major revision
and update of the 1966 Aspen Area General Plan and contains, as an
adopted policy, that Aspen should "strengthen the co~mlunity's
economic base in harmony with tourist activities and encoura9e
diversification ot quality recreational and cultural pursuits",
and
WHEREAS, the Aspen City Council desires to promote the imple-
mentation of this policy by encouraging high quality golf course
support ~acilities which will strengthen the economic base of the
community as a year-round resort, and
WHEREAS, the Aspen City Council finds that there is no zone
district currently within the Aspen Zoning Code which will permit
the development o~ high quality gol~ support facilities, and
WHEREAS, Section 24-12.3 of the Aspen Municipal Code provides
that amendments to the zoning code or the zoning district map may
be initiated by City Council or the Planning and Zoning Commission
at any time during the year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO;

Intent - To provide for the establishment of uses which
directly support the functioning of any golf course
within the City of Aspen in such a way as to pre-
serve the open space character of such recreational
facilities and also which will accommodate the need
for golf course oriented facilities directly adja-
cent thereto.
Perraitted Uses
Lodge, conference facility, restaurant and
bar, sport shop, recreation building, golf
cart maintenance facility and related recre-
ational facilities such as tennis courts and
swishing pools.

That it does hereby initiate an amendment to Section 24-3.4
