HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.council.010-79RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS 100 Leaves RESOLUTION NO. /~ (Series of 1979 WHEREAS, Hy-Mountain Transportation and Fresh Air Taxi have petitioned the Colorado Public Utilities Commission for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to operate a taxi service within the Aspen metropolitan area for the transportation of persons or property within the provisions of Article 10, Title 40, C.R.S. 1973, as amended; and WHEREAS, the Public Utilities Commission has the authority to grant more than one Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to operate motor vehicles for the transportation of property or persons within the same territory or a part thereof; and WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council of the City of Aspen, Colorado, that the local needs of the community are not being met by one motor vehicle car- rier; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO: Section 1 That the City of Aspen does endorse the concept of competition and does request of the Colorado Public Utilities Commission the issuance of at least one Certi- ficate of Public Convenience and Necessity for local service as well as service between Aspen/Grand Junction and Aspen/Denver. Section 2 That the City Clerk is hereby authorized to trans- mit a certified copy of this resolution to the Colorado Public Utilities Commission.
