WHEREAS, the City Council of Aspen, Colorado, has, by its
adoption of Ordinance No. , Series of 1979, approved the
imposition of a one-half of one percent (1/2 of 1%) tax upon real
estate transfers within the City of Aspen, Colorado; and
WHEREAS, Section 12.1 of the Charter of the City of Aspen,
Colorado, requires that no excise tax be levied until such tax
shall have been approved by a majority of the electors voting at a
regular or special election on the same; and
WHEREAS, formal action is necessary to place this issue on
the ballot,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO:

Shall the City of Aspen impose a Real Estate Transfer Tax on
