HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.council.017-75RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS 100 Leaves RESOLUTION NO. ~ (Series of 1975) WHEREAS, the United States Postal Service has offered to purchase a tract of land constituting a part of the Rio Grande Property owned by the City of Aspen, and WHEREAS, the city Council at its March 24, 1975 meeting by motion authorized the City Manager to enter into negotiations for such sale conditioned on limited postal delivery being assured for the city, and WHEREAS, the Postal Service requested that the action taken be reduced to writing and be adopted by the city Council in resolution form, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO: 1. That it does hereby authorize the city Manager to negotiate with the United States Postal Service for the sale of square feet of land owned by the City of Aspen and part of the Rio Grande Property for the construction thereon of a Post office Building. 2. The City Manager shall accept no less than $ per square foot and all terms of sale shall be presented to the City Council for its approval thereof- 3. Prior to final negotiation and sale, the City shall have received unequivocable assurance from postal authorities that the following postal services will be instituted within the city of Aspen, namely: RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS 100 Leaves a. door-to-door delivery within the commercial core of the City; b. curbline delivery or NBU service in those areas constituting approximately the original town- site of the city; and c. NBU and kiosks in the outlying areas of the City including Snowbunny and Mountain Valley Sub- divisions. 4. That nothing herein shall authorize the negotiation for the sale of any real property currently in use for public purposes as prohibited by Section 13.4 of the Aspen Home Rule Charter.
