HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.council.006-69RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS 100 Leaves RESOLUTION No. 6, Series of 1969 WHEREAS, the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad Company has requested permission from the Interstate Commerce Commission to discontinue operation of its last remaining passenger trains, the California Zephyr, between Denver, Colorado and Salt Lake City, Utah; and WHEREAS, the California Zephyr is the only passenger train servicing Glenwood Springs and the Aspen area; and WHEREAS, the discontinuance of the California Zephyr would work an extreme economic hardship on every tourist-oriented community along it's run and would certainly be harmful to Western Colorado and Aspen: NOW, THEREEORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aspen, Colorado that said Council hereby officially protests the attempted abandonment of the California Zephyr service and urges the Interstate Commerce Commission to order The Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad Company to continue said service.
