HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.hpc.001-1975RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS 100 Leaves RESOLUTION NO. ~-- (Series of 1975) WHEREAS, The Aspen Historic Preservation Committee is charged to maintain and promote the historic heritage of the City of Aspen, and WHEREAS, the original names of Aspen's streets represent an indigenous element of the original residents of the community, and WHEREAS, the original Center Street (now Garmisch Street) is historically significant as the street dividing the City into east and west segments as represented by the street numbering system, and WHEREAS, the HPC appreciates the designation of streets named after the sister city of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria, Germany and would like to retain this symbolic alliance, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Aspen Historic Preservation Committee that Garmisch Street be renamed Center Street and that Garmisch Street be reserved for designation of a future street of major significance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the proposed extension of Spring Street (Rio Grande Drive) be considered for the Garmisch Street designation. \ G O N,/ 6\ - CHAIRMAN, H~C I, Susan B.
