HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.hpc.012-1976RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS 100 Leaves RESOLUTION Recommending improvements to Lift One A Park including protection to the Boat Tow WHEREAS, the Historical Preservation Committee is charged to promote the educational, cultural, economic and general welfare of the public by preserving those qualities that relate to the history of the City of Aspen, and WHEREAS, Lift One A Park has been designated as a historic landmark, the site of the first ski lift in Aspen, and WHEREAS, prior to the construction of the first ski lift, access up the mountain was by way of a rope towed sled called a boat tow, and WHEREAS, one of the two boat tows is now located adjacent to Lift one, and is susceptible to the deteriorating effects of weather and potential damage of vandalism, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Aspen Historical Preservation Committee recommends that a site plan be developed for Lift One Park and that the plan incorporate a method to protect and display the original boat tow, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the plan for protection of the boat tow should incorporate an exhibit of information and photo- graphs on early skiing in Aspen, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the presentation of early skiing should include maintenance and preservation of Lift One which is presently in need of painting.
