MINUTES OF OCTOBER 18~ 2005
Chairperson, Bill Dinsmoor called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
Commissioners in attendance: Shae' Singer and Don Sheeley. Mark
Goodman was seated at 9:30 a.m. Excused were John Starr and Stan
Hajenga.
Martha from the Pitkin County Library invited CCLC to attend their event
Nov. 8th from 10:00 to 6:00. The event is a Data base show. 15 vendors
will be present.
Brad Manischevitz relayed that he entertained :at the market for the last three
yeaers. He has gotten positive feedback from vendors at the market who
love the music. Brad would like to manage the music portion of the market.
He feels the music section should be broken off from the manager and paid
separately. He would book the musicians and communicate with them and
the newspapers etc. He would build in a feedback from the vendors.
Terry suggested that all musicians be interviewed. Some musicians on the
street were not appropriate.
BID
Bill relayed that the BID funding of $27,000 is all in place and thc BID
needs to move forward. Council committed in a workscssion to front ½ the
money to hire someone locally to bring the BID forward. That person
would meet with businesses etc. similarly to what Lisa Baker did. The other
half of thc money would be provided by the businesses.
Bill said he would contact PUMA to see if Brad Siegel would do a
presentation to the ACRA.
Shirley Tipton said she has already met with some of the CCLC members
regarding the BID. She has worked on several efforts in Durango involving
BID's. Rocky Mtn. Strategies is her business and she has an associate. The
BID is a assessment on businesses.
Shirley said the group spearheading the BID needs to have a scope of work.
A 501C6 also needs to be set up. Goals need to be set.
Don said the ACRA is waiting for the BID to jell. Shae said the ACRA
needs a letter indicating that the City and CCLC is supporting the BID and
COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION

would like the ACRA to be involved. Don said he would coordinate a
presentation of the BID with the ACRA.
Shirley said Brad Siegel needs to write up a scope of work.
