OF THE ASPEN HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE
SUPPORTING THE CREATION OF STATEWIDE
PROPERTY TAX REDUCTIONS FOR HISTORIC AND CULTURAL RESOURCES
Resolution 92-3
WHEREAS, historic preservation gives Americans an authentic
experience of their diverse heritage and provides direction for
future generations; and
WHEREAS, historic preservation enhances the livability of
cities, towns and rural areas across Colorado and our country; and
WHEREAS, preservation incentives have long been considered a
vital tool to encourage the preservation and protection of our
architectural heritage and cultural environment, and;
WHEREAS, the Aspen Historic Preservation Committee (HPC), on
behalf of historic property owners in the Aspen community, supports
the creation of additional statewide incentives, in the form of
reduced real property taxes for historic and cultural resources.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the HPC encourages the
Colorado Historical Society, Colorado Preservation, Inc. and the
National Trust for Historic Preservation to begin legislative
action accordingly to create additional preservation incentives
statewide, which will benefit all Colorado citizens by helping to
protect our heritage and thereby enrich our daily quality of life.
APPROVED by the Aspen Historic Preservation Committee at their
regular meeting on April 22, 1992.
