HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.hpc.001-1997RESOLUTION NO. / , 1997 A RESOLUTION OF THE ASPEN HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION, ASPEN, COLORADO, RECOGNIZING THE NEED FOR A NEW FEDERAL INCOME TAX CREDIT TO ENCOURAGE THE REHABILITATION OF OLDER BUILDINGS FOR HOMEOWNERSHIP IN THE STATE OF COLORADO AND THE NATION, AND URGING AN ENACTMENT BY THE CONGRESS OF THE "HISTORIC HOMEOWNERSHIP ASSISTANCE ACT, (HOUSE BILL 1134/SENATE BILL 496) WHEREAS, there has been introduced in the Congress the "Historic Homeownership Assistance Act," (House Bill 1134/ Senate Bill 496) which would provide homeownership incentives for the rehabilitation of older buildings in historic districts through a Federal Historic Rehabilitation tax credit for homeowners; and WHEREAS, the Act will expand homeownership oppommities for low and middle income individuals and families; and WHEREAS, the Act will stimulate the revival of declining neighborhoods and communities; and WHEREAS, the Act will enlarge and stabilize the tax base of cities and small towns; and WHEREAS, the Act will preserve and protect historic homes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Aspen Historic Preservation Commission supports and endorses and encourages the prompt enactment of the "Historic Homeownership Assistance Act;" and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be sent to the entire Congressional Delegation of Colorado. ,1997.
