HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.hpc.011-1999RESOLUTION OF THE ASPEN HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION APPROVING ELEMENTS OF THE REMEDIATION PLAN FOR 234 WEST FRANCIS STREET, ASPEN, COLORADO RESOLUTION NO./I , SERIES OF 1999 WItEREAS, the owners of 234 W. Francis Street, Don and Gwen Mullins, represented by Studio B Architects, are required by the "Stipulated Findings of Fact and Order" to receive HPC approval for a remediation plan addressing violations of Building Permit No. 8-49; and WHEREAS, a remediation plan was submitted for review by the Historic Preservation Commission at their regularly scheduled meeting of February 24, 1999; and WHEREAS, the HPC resolved some items of the remediation plan on February 24, 1999, as covered in Resolution No. , Series of 1999; and WHEREAS, the HPC identified elements of the remediation plan which required a site visit, which was held on March ISt at 234 W. Francis Street. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That from the site visit on March 1, 1999, the following issues have been resolved to the satisfaction of the Historic Preservation Commission. 1. The vents required for the three gas fireplaces that have been installed in the house are approved as represented to the HPC on February 24, 1999 and as shown in mock-ups at the site visit. The vents are to be painted black to match the roof. 2. Where the direct vents for the gas fireplaces are removed on the east side of the house, the siding shall be patched. 3. On the west side of the house, the bathroom vent which was placed at the second stoW level will be removed. An interior system (charcoal filter) will be used instead. 4. The bathroom vent which is approved to remain on the lower portion of the west wall shall be painted to match the clapboards. 5. The large "mushroom" vent on the one stoW reconstructed element of the old house shall be painted black. 6. A vent which has been installed on the north side of the old house, on the new dormer, will be relocated to the east side of that dormer, and painted to match the clapboards. 7. The historic fence, which has 'been placed on a platform and covered with plastic, is sufficient to protect it while being stored.
