SPECIAL REVIEW APPROVAL TO THE HOWLING WOLF TO REDUCE THE REQUIRED
TRASH SERVICE AREA
Resolution No. 96- ~[
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 26.64.040(C) of the Aspen Municipal Code, a reduction of the
required trash service area may be approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission by special review in
conformance with the requirements of said Section; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 26.28.140(D)(6), a trash service area of 20 feet in length,
measured parallel to the alley, with a minimum vertical clearance of 10 feet and a minimum depth of 10 feet
at ground level is required for up to 6,000 square feet of net leasable floor area within a building in the
Commercial Core (CC) zone district; and
WHEREAS, the Community Development Department received an application' from the Howling
Wolf for a special review to allow a 10 foot by 10 foot by 10 foot trash service area at 316 E. Hopkins Ave.,
Lot O, Block 80, City and Townsite of Aspen; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer and the Community Development Department reviewed the
proposal and recommended approval with conditions; and
WHEREAS, during a public hearing at a regular meeting on June 18, 1996, the Planning and
Zoning Commission approved by a7-0 vote the special review to reduce the required trash service area with
the conditions recommended by the Community Development Department. ·
NO'W, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Commission that it does hereby approve the Howling
Wolf special review to reduce the required trash area to 10 feet by 10 feet by 10 feet, subject to the
following conditions:
All material representations made by the applicant in the application and during public meetings
with the Planning and Zoning Commission shall be adhered to and considered conditions of
approval, unless otherwise amended by other conditions.

Dumpsters shall be oriented with the "ears" facing the alley so as to be easily removed by trash
personnel.

Access to the trash area from the alley shall be unobstructed.
APPROVED by the Commission at its regular meeting on June 18, 1996.
