HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.apz.001-87 RESOLUTION OF THE ASPEN PLANNING AND ZONING CO~ISSION ENDORSING THE ASPEN LODGE AREA SPECIAL I~PltOVE~B~qT DISTI~ICT PLAN Resolution No. 8~- I WHEREAS, the Aspen Planning and Zoning Commission (hereinafter Commission) has reviewed the Aspen Lodge Area Special Improvement District Plan (hereinafter Plan) on August 26, 1986 and December 16, 1986; ~nd WHEREAS, at those meetings the Commission responded favorably to the Plan's concepts which focused on public and private improvements in public right-of-way and on private property to enhance the appearance and pedestrian nature of the Lodge District; and WHEREAS, the pedestrian safety, Commission voiced general concerns regarding specifically focusing on neckdowns and land- scaping at intersections as potential pedestrian safety problems; and WHEREAS, The Commission requested an opportunity to review the detail design work for the Aspen Lodge Area Improvement District Plan; and WHEREAS, the Commission recognizes that the Aspen Lodge Area Special Improvement District Task Force (hereinafter Task Force) has worked since September, 1985 to develop this Plan; and WHEREAS, the Plan is consistent with both the Aspen Area Comprehensive Plan: Parks/Recreation/Open Space/Trails Element and the City's current Transportation work; and the Commission feels that the Lodge District is an WHEREAS, important part of the community; and WHEREAS, the Commission agrees with the Task Force that these improvements are necessary. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Aspen Planning and Zoning Commission endorses the Aspen Lodge Area Special Improvement District Plan. NOW BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Commission has stated a concern for pedestrian safety (neckdowns, landscaping) which will be addressed in detailed design and reviewed by the Commission.
