HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.apz.015-85RESOLUTION OF THE ASPEN PLANNING AND ~ONING COI~ISSIOR CONFIP~ING ITS PREVIOUS RES(~UTION WIT~ RESPECT TO THE USE OF A TROLLEY SYSTEM IN TEE CITY OF ASPEN I~SOLUTION NO. 8§-15 WHEREAS, the Commission has for a considerable time recognized the need for a Rio Grande Parking and Transportation Center, an improved transit center at Ruby Park, and a transit link between both that would include service to the center of the commercial core and possible extension to lA; and WHEREAS, the Commission has considered a trolley system as a mode that could address the requirements of that transit link in an effective, convenient,and desirable fashion; and WHEREAS, the Commission has previously requested by resolution a study of a trolley system for that transit link the utilization of the City owned cars; and and WHEREAS, the City Council allocated funds for a preliminary feasibility study of a trolley system and has since withdrawn the funds because the study was not put out for procurement; and WHEREAS, the Commission believes that the results of such a study are vitally necessary in planning some of the land use and transportation requirements of the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Commission that it does hereby request that the City Council fund and order a study of a trolley system which would include necessary land use, right-of-way, engineering, esthetic, and cost impact information in assisting the City Council and the Commission in accomplishing rational planning decisions.
