COMMISSION RECOMMENDING A CODE AMENDMENT
TO REQUIRE THAT THE PLACEMENT OF A SATELLITE DISH ANTENNAE
RECEIVE A PRIOR CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT IN ALL ZONES WITHIN
THE CITY OF ASPEN

WHEREAS, Ordinance 1, Series of 1983, did bring satellite
dish installation under building permit revigw, and
WHEREAS, the requirement of a building permit does also bring
the dishes under the purview of the Historic Preservation Commission,

surrounding land uses and uses in the area, and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to aisp develop specific criteria for
the review of satellite dish antennae to evaluate their appropriateness
in any zone district.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Aspen Planning and Zoning
Commission, that it does hereby recommend that City Council amend
Section 24-3.2 of the Municipal Code by making satellite dish an-
tennaes a conditional use in all zones in the City of Aspen.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Aspen Planning and Zoning
Commission that it does hereby recommend that City Council adopt a
new Section 24-3.7(p) of the Municipal Code,' to read as follows:
"(~) Satellite Dish Antennae.
Satellite dish antennae shall be a conditional use in all
zone districts, and shall be evaluated according to the
following criteria:

quirements within the zone without a variance granted
by the Board of Adjustments.

City right-of-way (unless an Encroachment Permit can
be secured).

Aspen at its regular meeting on April 5, 1983.
