RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the City of Aspen is a tourist oriented
community, and
WHEREAS, Planning is an important phase in all
communities, more especially one dependent on the tourist
economy and,
WHEREAS, the public officials and citizens of
the City of Aspen recognize that fact and contracted with one
of the nation's leading planning firms to study the City's
problem as relates to planning and submit a Master Plan,
AND WHEREAS, such Master Plan was officially
accepted and adopted by the Planning Commissions of both
the City of Aspen the County of Pitkin and by the City
Council and the Commissioners of Pitkin County.
WHEREAS, such Master Plan dealt with, among other
things, the importance of retaining the business or com-
mercial district in the present location for a number of
reasons, all of which are listed in the Master Plan, and
WHEREAS, the Master Plan also recommends the
protection and preservation of the various other zoning
districts,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, THAT the Planning
and Zoning Commission of the City of Aspen, Colorado,
requests that any extensions for postal service within the
City of Aspen be in addition to the present facility at the
present or nearby location within the C-C District of the
City of Aspen.
