ACRA market booth.
Shae' said she would coordinate the ACRA booth. Criteria will be written
up for those that apply. Shae' also mention businesses putting out wares on
Saturday's throughout town during the market hours. She will talk to Steve
Barwick regarding this.
Bill said the benefit of the market is lost because we are one block away
from the core.
BID
Shirley Tipton and Katherine Sand met with the Debbie Braun, ACRA
director. The ACRA is enthusiastic about being involved with the BID.
Katherine said it is going to take time and a lot of negotiations to get the
BID moving. The idea is to turn the good will into a solid plan. There
needs to be a lot of leg work done.
Bill asked what their fee would be. Shirley said we need a clear scope of
plan. Brad Siegel wants to do minimal work. 1/3 of Brad's fee is for
traveling. We need to find a way to meld the two parties together.
Bill also mentioned that Brad has not been contracted.
Don recommended that the CCLC use someone local to do the leg work
because they are here. Shirley said she has worked with Bid's before. She
said Brad has done the legal documents before and he should be retrained
for that piece.
Bill said the City wants to be at arms length. He also said Lisa Baker's
work was very valuable.
Don said on a local level if people can call someone local it is a huge
benefit to the community to get the BID going forward.
COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION
MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 16~ 2005
Saturday Market
Bill asked staff to contact Peter to find out what fee they are paying for the
larger rigs. The discussion is whether the fees should be increased or not.
Bill said it is difficult to determine that unless we can see what is left in the
budget. Bill also asked Staff to find out what the produce vendors want of
the market manager.
Kathy said the zoning officer has amended the application for the signs for
the produce vendors.
Shae said the Saturday Market manager job should be advertised yearly.
She also said the manager should have an evaluation yearly.
Stan said it is difficult to discuss the budget when we do not know what is
left. Staff was directed to contact the manager to see if the books can be
dropped off at City Hall.
Shae' said communication is critical in the manager's position.
The CCLC requested that the Phil Overeynder, head of the Electric come to
the next meeting to discuss what needs to be done now to upgrade the
electric before the 2006 market begins.
Stan said the City needs to make sure the electric works. They need to get
involved. We can't have electric popping on and off. The produce vendors
have huge rigs that need refrigerated.
Meeting adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
