Committee City of Aspen 130 South Galena Street Aspen, Colorado 81611 Dear Steve and Committee Members: The reasons for the application to reconstruct the garage at the Sutton Residence are simply stated as follows: The Sutton Residence is a designated historic structure. Renovation of the structure has recently been completed. The garage is in disrepair. For the garage to be compatible with the Residence, the garage needs to be reconstructed to a similar level. We have proposed moving the garage approximately one foot, which will allow it to be constructed withi-n the property boundaries. The existing garage overhangs the property boundaries on two sides. The location of the garage is not unusual for older homesites, and we see no reason to complicate matters by moving it further onto the property or by changing its orientation. Its location is part of the neighborhood fabric that should be preserved.
