HomeMy WebLinkAboutminutes.council.19811019Special Meeting Aspen City Council October 19, 1981 Mayor Pro Tem Michael called the meeting to order at 12:20 p.m. with Councilmembers Parry, Collins, and Knecht present. City Engineer Dan McArthur told Council this is to award the bids for package two on the Wheeler Opera House interior demolition. Three bids were received; Howard Used Brick at $96,588; Brokes Demolition at $106,955 and Eagle Wrecking at $120,700. McArthur told Council the construction manager for the Wheeler reviewed these bids and recommends that the city go with the low bid at $96,588. McArthur told Council this bids is to basically strip the inside of the Wheeler; get rid of the interior partitions, lights, electrical mechanical etc. McArthur told Council this phase will take two to three months. Mayor Pro Tem Michael asked that the construction people do their best to keep parking in the alley and on the streets under control. McArthur said he will monitor this closely. Councilman Knecht moved to approve the Howard Used Bricks bid at $96,588 for bid package two for phase one; seconded by Councilman Parry. Councilman Knecht asked if this was within budget. McArthur said the city is over $30,000 right now. McArthur is trying to resolve this by supplying housing for the workers. McArthur said his department will be looking into the possibilities of saving money on other phases. There are four to five other bid packages for the building. All in favor, motion carried. Councilman Parry moved to adjourn at 12;25 p.m.; seconded by Councilman Knecht. All in favor, motion carried. Koch, City Clerk
