ASPEN SATURDAY MARKET MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Set up contact list for all vendors including produce vendors. Copy to be given to
produce and craft managers. Makes sure all vendors have a valid City of Aspen
Business license and Colo. Sales tax license at the mandatory market meeting. If
vendor cannot attend meeting, manager must contact them for their numbers.
2. Deposits all checks received from the Clerk's office for those vendors that are
accepted. Sends out rejection letters and contacts those craft vendors who are
accepted or rejected.
3. Relays to all vendors when sales tax is due and monitors vendors to make sure
sales tax has been paid.
4. Non-profit booth scheduled through Pitkin County Health & Human Services
(Susan Berdahl) to increase public awareness.
5. Manager to be on-site at the market from June 17th through Oct. 28th - 20 weeks
Time: 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
6. Aspen Chamber Resort double booth to be organized by Shae' Singer. Half the
booth is for ACRA information.
7. Organize setup and breakdown. Street department, deposit for barricades; Parks
Department, trash receptacles. Hang market banners.
8. Coordinates booth placements. Marks booth placements on the street. Makes
sure all vendors do not creep out into the 16 foot fire lane. Booths cannot block
the cross walks. No tents for musicians at the south end of Hunter or the West
end of Hopkins. A dimensional layout, map of vendors on the street should be
drawn up and given to craft and produce vendors.
9. If City Hall is available, hires person to direct patrons to the bathroom facilities.
Replenish bathroom supplies. 7:00 to 3:30. 1 hr. lunch break.
10. Hires labor for food demonstrations - putting up tents and chairs. $12. hr. two
hrs. to set up and two to break down. $48. Food demonstrations end Sept. 30th
due to grass seeding in Conner Park.
11. Coordinates cooking demonstrations.
12. Schedules musicians and set up tent at comer of Hopkins and Hunter. Musicians
to be interviewed.
13. Handles advertising.
14. Handles post card.
15. Pays bills two signatures required.
16. Reports to CCLC and produce manager on monthly budget.
17. Set up email spread sheet for all vendors including the produce vendors.
18. Attends 5 CCLC meetings, one a month. Reports on market and budget.
19. Contacts communications if cars are parking on the street during the market. 920-

20. Market supplies cannot be stored on City property.
21. Market info to be on the City of Aspen home page and linked to the ACRA
calendar. Applications are on the City Web page.
22. Paid weekly starting in April.
23. Music 11- to 2:00 - not after 2:00 due to wedding at the church.
24. No electricity for craft vendors.
25. Job runs from April through Oct. Must know how to do basic books, Quick
Books.
26. No blocking sidewalks at the intersections.
27. e-mail lodges and ACRA of events.
Salary - $10,000.
2004: $24,000.
