City Council Chambers Present were acting chair person Mona Frost, Nick Pasquarella, Connie Mc Crudden, Pat O'Bryan. OLD BUSINESS: The meeting was open to the approval of colors for the Chiffron residence,Ted Guy architect giving the presentation to the members. The house at 214 Lake Avenue has been painted with a mock up portion for the members who already took a site visit. They would like to get started next week if approval is given. Ted Guy said this has been a reconstruction of an 1880's miners cottage,with a new addition behind. There will be two changes to the mock up colors now on the house as seen by the members during the site visit on the south facing of the house.l) up on the rake they want to add one more peice of color, there is some dark green, and a mauve, and what they want to do is to take the pink they have around the window, and take the quarter inch mold paint that the same color pink that is on the windows.2) they would like to change the singles dark to match the two houses across the park,they have dark roofs. The singles would be 2 parts green and 1 part graphite for the roof. The gable shingles which are vertical they want todo 1/3 pink, 1/3 teal, 1/3 mauve. The color samples will go on file with the planning office. Mona Frost said that the plan seems bigger than when HPC first gave approval. Ted said it won't look so big when the landscaping is down, and the dirt is piled down. The trees and landscaping will break down the massing. Connie Mc Cruuden moved to approval final review of colors for the Chiffron residence at 214 Lake avenue as presented today by Ted Guy, seconded by Nick Pasquarella, discussion none, all in favor, motion carried. New Business; Review of La Cerise, installation of new door,407 Russell Penning for Penning Construction. East Hyman, The new owners are asking to install a new door opening onto the 1 Historic Preservation Committee Regular Meeting May 14,1985 1:00 P.M. City Council Chambers Hyman Avenue Mall, for better access, and to remove the block planter at the store front, this planter is in the shade and is a catch all for trash. The door will be a standard all glass front door, similar to the business around them. Showing planned drawings to the members. They will remove the plate glass window and install a standard glass door where the windows in the picture are recessed. Connie Mc Crudden moved to approval the preliminary and final review of the installation for a new door way entrance for La Cerise at 407 East Hyman, and for permission to take away the cinder block planter in front of the building, seconded by Nick Pasquarella, discussion, the members felt it enhanced the building and would improve business. All in favor, motion is carried. A motion was asked for since this appeared on the agenda as preliminary review. A Motion to stated that this project had minor changes and was approved as for preliminary and final for 407 East Hyman,by Connie Mc Crudden, seconded by Nick Pasquarella, all in favor, motion carried. New Business: Preliminary review of the entrance change at the Shaft, Russell Penning and Paul Wilson associate giving the presentation. The Shaft is located at 534 East Copper, this will be a minor change also,the owners C.A. Muer Corporation would like to change the entrance some to help the flow of the traffic. They wish to create a better air lock space between the inter and outer doors, right now it is real small, plus there will be a new bar comming in that been approved by the building department, which will create more space for the waiting area. They wish to take where the existing two doors are now, and using that as inside space and relocating doors where the ore cart is. The ore cart is comming inside and in front of one of the windows inside, as a display, you will be able to see the cart from the outside still, The heavy beam structure will be maintained, just the doors will be moved and the ore cart relocated inside. Showing plans to the members. New Thermopane glass will be placed Historic Preservation Committee Regular Meeting May 14,1985 1:00 P.M. City Council Chambers around these doors to match the existing, and new sliding windows in three bays in place of fixed glass. Pat O'Bryan moved to approve the preliminary and final review for the Shaft restaurant as presented for the changes of the entrance and to place the ore cart inside showing from the out side. Nick Pasquarella seconded the motion, discussion, none,all in favor, motion carried. Meeting adjourn. 3
