HomeMy WebLinkAboutminutes.hpc.19830510RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS 100 Leaves Historic Preservation Committee May 10, 1983 City Council Chambers Present were Georgeann Waggamn, Nick Pasquarella, Mona Frost, Terry End, Connie McCrudden, Steve Marcus, Richard Cicero, Bill Drueding, and Colette Penne. The meeting open to New Business: The Preliminary review of the addition to 135 W.Francis,Paul Fabry residence by of the Aspen Design Group. Asking for removal of the sheds that are in the back yard, and add-on, which would include a basement for storage and the first floor, and in doing so, will free up some of the back yard, and the addition will be 15 feet back from the property line; They would like to repaint the house and to up grade the whole house, but with the existing part of the house right now, except for taking out the shed, not to make visual changes; The members brought up the black pipe that sticks up from the roof that had been put there in the last couple of years, should be removed, the back part of the house is g~ing to be remodeled,plans were put up for the members to see and discuss,materials will match the existing ones such as trim, roof. The addition will add about 1,000 square feet, which will be a family room, remodeling the existing bedroom, and bath and the basement will have an outside entrance; The Public Hearing will be set for June 14. Mona Frost moved for approval of the preliminary review of the changes at 135 W. Francis as presented, Nick Pasquarella seconded the motion asking that the owner be asked about considering the removal of the black pipe, all in favor, motion carried. Georgeann Waggman said she will be absent £rom the meeting on June 14th, for the record. The Preliminary review of the additions and shed demolitions to 627 and 633 W. Main Stan Mathis, presented by Kathy Walker from Stan Mathis office The houses are side by side and requesting the removal of the sheds and adding an addition in back, the addition will not be seen from Main Street, adding a deck that will be shared by the two houses in back also a hot tub, and a private deck off the each o£ the master bedrooms, and a solarium with a master bath, there will be about 15 £eet of yard left, Kathy Walker said they wish to have a sky light Colette Penne asked if the sky lights were moved to the other side o£ the roof, would it give the same amount of light, and not visible from Sixth Street~and set-in a couple of windows in that wall facing the other houses; Public Hearing will be set £or June 14th; Terry End moved £or preliminary approval to the changes at 627-633 W. Main as purposed changes,the two dorms and the addition in back and the fence, in hopes that HPC can have sky-light on the flip side of the building, and the demolition of the two sheds on the alley side, seconded by Connie McCrudden, all in favor, motion carried. The Public Hearing and final design review of the facelift for the Aspen Laundry at 301 E. Hopkins by Russ Piestick, Open to Public Hearing, a chart of colors was shown to the members, that being of green, two shades of brown and ~an, Georgeann Waggaman asked if Russ Piestick would be interested to take a section about three feet wide and paint all the colors in there so all of the members can get a real good feeling of how the building will. look, the project will be done by late summer, close Public Hearing; Terry End moved to approve the final consideration of the Aspen Laundry at 301 E. Hopkins Avenue with the condi~ o£ the color scheme that the HPC can see the color upon completion of the building, and the facade changes, seconded by Connie McCrudden, all in favor, motion carried. Colette Penne s~ that a code ammendemnt needs to be a~ressed, especially where a Historic Designated building is concerned and in the Historic District that alterering such a place, that HPC can de-designate without the owners approval. Since the KSPN put the satellite dish there has been code changes from City Council that all satellite dish, need a building permit, they are considered structures and also are a conditional use in every zone in the City and the County, a special review use, Meeting adjourned
