Bill Gilner
Old Business:
Bill Gilner came before HPC for preliminary review of the
plans for the house at 709 W. Main, with much of the same
plans as before with the difference of lintel over the windows
and the trim, the rest of the house is as presented before;
It is a very simple design, the building will be done in
stucco and redwood , the idea of the parapet was removed..
giving the building a fake front was not felt it was needed.
The two doors will have a dormer effect made of redwood;
The only question comming up was there going tobe enoug~
of a reve~. It was suggested that Bill Gilner use some
bricks for a effect also. Colette Penne said this will go for
Public Hearing on July 26 th. Mona Frost moved to approve
the plans presented to HPC for 709 W. Main house by Bill
Gilner, with the material being a beige stucco, and red
wood and redwood trim also, approval being given is for

favor, motion carried.
Awnings
Aspen Arcade
New Business:
Don Siegel came before this board to ask for awnings on the
Aspen Arcade Building; The owners said it is time to replace
the old ones, and add some to the Hyman Street side, the
same style. Bill Drueding said that the awnings do have to be
retractable, except on the doorways,The owner =would like
to have a red or a yellow awning, the building does have a
paint on it with a olive green, purple and a mustard color
trim, Georgeann Waggaman review the discussion on the
type on awnings, staight awnings on the Galena Street side
as they exist now, the same bell shape awnings on the
Ute City Bank as now, then around the corner , and somewhat
similar to the bell shape, that will include the door and the
two side windows, and basicly just cover the steps, all
of them will be a solid color and all will be the same solid
color; It was decided to take a site visit after this
meeting, since there were other awning issues comming
before this board today.
Brand Bldg.
The next ~wnings were for the Brand Building by Dave Gibson,
and asking £or some improvements to the Brand Building,
which include awnings, new paint scheme, and minor repair
to the leather shop, the building has one awning on it
now, barrel type, and are proposing to add awnings every
where there is a store front and carry them around on the
North side, these awnings will be mounted up a little
higher than some awnings, about 9 feet off the sidewalk;
Dave Gibson, said that they would like to replace the store
~ont that is very heavy in its design, more so with keeping
with the rest of the building; The color of awnings
will be a forest green; The signage will have to be taken
up with the Building Department. Nick Pasquarelta moved to
approve this awning rendering as rendered, Connie McCrudden
seconded the motion, all in favor, motion carried; samples
of col~s choosen are in the Planning office,
Awnings for Pinocchio's in the Aspen Grove Building,
3o~g Hose, they would like to add three awnings out in
Pinocchio's
Aspen Grove
Bldg.
Szechuan Gardens
the court yard, in the center building, they would stick
out about three feet from the building and about five feet
in lenght each, they would like to use them to keep the
rain off outside waitress stations, and the two back ones
will cover two small tables and they want some on the
front also, and a barrel type awning out the front door,
which is set back from the sidewalk , the reason for that,
is that they are trying to do a lot of upgrading on the
restuarant, and improve the 'entrances way, the one
over the door will only go to the edge of the building.
The color of awning shown the members was a green with
whit~e~strip~ , with scallops; Asked what color the umbrella's
on the outdoor tables were, yellow with white, It was
felt that this was another place that should have a site visit
before a vote;
Awnings for the Szechuan Gardens, Garden level of 533 E.
Hopkins, Randall Marshal, referring to the packet which
has the drawings of the awnings they would like to have,
over the windows, retractable, where Burger Brother's
use to be, asking for them down in the well, they want it
for the morning sun and serving lunch. The cover comming
along the entrances way there will only be put up during
the winter, with the barrel effect during the summer months
and the entrance enclosed during the winter, for warmth;
The double entry was removed in error, but removed. The awnings
shown the members were solid and strip~,red, with red and white
strips , the signage will be up to the Building Department,
for the amount of signage on the awnings; The members did not
have anything against the smaller stripebeing used here.
Connie McCrudden moved to approve the awnings at
533 E. Hopkins for Szechuan Gardens as presented by Randall
Marshal, seconded by Nick Pasquarella, all in favor, motion
carried.
The meeting was continuted to the site visits for the
request for awnings on the Pinocchio's and
the Aspen Arcade Building. The members could not come to a
decision on the Aspen Arcade Building, but did give approval
for the awnings for Pinocchio's of green and white but
not the one over the door as asked for, for the interior of
~e court yard.
It was discussed about having awnings be review by who,
but it was felt that HPC should review awnings, and signage
stay with Bill Drueding and the Building Department.
Meeting adjourned.
