HomeMy WebLinkAboutminutes.hpc.19830913RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS 100 Leaves Historic Preservation Cc~a~ittee regular meeting Septemeber 13, 1983 Mayor's Office The Historic Preservation Cc~mittee held its regular meeting on September 13, in the Mayor's Office; Present were GeorgeannWaggaman, Terry End, Mona Frost, Nick Pas~rella, Richard Cicero, and Colette Penne. Themeeting openedto a roll call. Placement of Satellite Dish Old Business: The Public Hearing and final consideration of the placement of the Satellite Dish Positioning for KSPN at 332 W. Main, Peter Van Dc~elen. The Public H~aring was opened, Peter Van Dc~elen said as in th~ meeting of August 16, of this year, that the placement of the satellite dish is placed in the NE corner, and mounted on a pole. Joyce Hatton said that the slogan will be turned so that it is not so visible as it is at the top of the dish, which was one of the concerns of this body, Also one of the concerns was that the members had asked for the dish to be painted other than the white it has been, Joyce Hatton said that the back has been painted a Mohave Sand; A metion to approve the plac~m~_nt of the satellite dish contingent on the painting of the dish, and not the visible signage that is showing on the top part of the dish now, by Nick Pasquarella, seconded by Richard Cicero, all in favor, motion carried. Martin House 710 N. 3~d Another Minutes Need for New Members New Business: The Proposed structual modifications at the Martin House at 710 N. 3rd Dean RDlin and Wayne Stricker, The changes as for will be in keeping with the neigberhood and the new siding will match the exsisting siding that is now on the house, alse the material as the roofing will match , the addition is adding a master bedroc~of the first floor, which will make it necessary to m eve the kitchento the south sc~e 10 feet betweenbuildings. Terry End moved for approval of the plans as presented and stamped by and for HPC for the n~dification changes to the house at 710 N.3rd., seconded by Nick Pasquarella, all in favor, motion carried. Another Gallery- New Business Asking for permission to more the doorway 4 feet to the left, and using the same elr~er glass , Richard Cicero moved to approve the change of the doorway by moving it mere to the center by 4 feet,, Nick Pasquarella seconded the motion, all in favor, motion carried. The minutes for the meeting of December 15, 1981, August 9, 16, and 23rdwere approved with the spelling corrections. Colette Penne suggested to the members that they consider to have new members on this hoard, and that a letter of recc~endationbe given to the alternates that have because of there schedules not been able to attend to many meetings as of late, but have in the past served this cen~nittee well; Three new m~mbers will be needed, H~C can look over the applications and recc~mend them to Council, but City Council will make the choice.Nick Pasquarellamoved to approve letters of appreciation to Bill Clark, Marjorie Brenner and Steve Marcus for there services, and recc~nd to Council the need for new m~mbers, seconded by Terry End, all in favor, metion carried. Non-approval Asked of ~ The members mentioned that neither the Wheeler Opera House Board, or the County Jail asked for any kind of approval frc~HPC , Also the Epicure Building, the Gingerman, has a steel beams goes through that historical wall~ and isn't that sc~ething HPC should hear about. Nick Pasquarella said that Puppy Smith would be a good person to contact for making the street sign for HPC, Historically Center Street to be put under Garmish Street, to let people knew that was orginally known as Center Street. Colette Penne said that the sign should read "Center Street", then every tourist that cc~es into town, will turn and say "what so great about this street.' Meeting adjourned.
