HomeMy WebLinkAboutminutes.hpc.19820126RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS 100 Leaves Regular meeting Historical Preservation Commission January 26.1982 Mona Frost acting chairman,called the meeting to order at 1:20 P.M., with members Terry End,Nick Pasquella, Steve Marcus, Collette Penne, Planning Bill Drueding, Building department. Approval of Minutes Mill Street Station 2nd. Plan Flag Poles Bill Gilner 709 W. Main Terry End made a motion to approve the minutes of January 12, 1982,Nick Pasqu~a sec ond the motion, All in favor, motion carried. Michael Thompson and Larry Yaw of Hagman-Yaw Architects Ltd., gave there second presentation of the proposed design elements for the new Mill Street Station. Larry Yaw, Nick Pasqu~la, Bill Clark,and Georgeann Waggman took a walk about the town and observed; how does a new building fit into a context with the old buildings; and what do they have in common. There are three things to look for; Scale, material, and detail; Most building there was some sort of banning for each level. Larry Yaw took pictures of different buildings to show the committe~ determination and the banning, and how his new building would fit in. Next ~arry Yaw brought forth drawings that showed that there would be only two changes, narrowing the banning and a soldier course to separate the first floor and the second floor, and to have the material all brick instead of stucco. Though Bill Clark was not attending, he spoke to Collette Penne and stated that he was satisfied with the new design. Also not attending was Georgeann Waggaman, who sent a letter saying that she had not really opposed the old plans but seeing the new revision of the design, she is even more exceptable to this design and would vote to approve them. Collette Penne called called for amotion ~o be made on the new Plans ,Mona Frost secondthe mation and asked all-in-favor say Aye... all were in favor the vote was for four...aye. opposed, none. Nick Pasqu~la asked that he would like to state for the minutes that Larry Yaw of Hagman -Yaw Architects Ltd. "Did a very very good comprehensive present ation!' Mona Frost,greed that it should be put in the minutes. Bill Dreuding from the building depertment asked that the flag pole on the court house be tabled till Curt Stewart can talk to the commissioners, and that Harley Baldwin was g0~ng through the approval process that is necessary from H.P.C. for his flag pole on the Brand Building. Bill Gilner asked the H.P.C. for permission to remove the Structure at 709 W. Main and to build a single house on the lot which zoing perments. A motion was made by Ste~e Marcus ,to approve the demolish of Bill Gilner house subject to presenting a new plan for the single house dwelling that is is satisfactory to the H.P.C. and the building department. Nick Pasquella seconded the motion, All in favor ...aye.. Opposed...none. Collette Penne asked that this go to Public Hearing for the second meeting in Febuary. A motion was made then, all in favor Aye... opposed...none, the motion was carried. Collett~ Penne, stated that a resolution of color for the commerg~al qore and the historical district is really warranted; for commer~¢al bgildings within the commercial core, being used for commer£~al purposes and that she will write one up to go to councilfor review.
