Special meeting Historic Preservation Committee July 1982 1;00P.M.
The continued meeting on the issue o£ the proposed plans
~f Bill Wesson; changes proposed in the building plans at 605
Main owned by Dr, Bill Wesson, and his attorney Joe Edwards.
Joe Edwards stated that this committee is reviewing the design
changes that are being purposed for that building that has
already at one time been approved(but not these plans) to
make a determination under these standards which are
established in the code 24-9.11. askiEg this committee to judge
any proposed new structure for its complementary design with
a2jestion desi hated historic structures.
Joe Edwards went on to say that this committee as Joe Edwards
sees it, is taking a look at the modified building and see if
the changes as purposed, since it has been previously
been approved,.., that that building was complimentary with the
Shaw building, so does the new purposed changes make it
uncomplimentary? Agrument in support of these plans is this
is not a substandtial change. Putting the building above grade
is still less in height than code, and all the other buildings
are above grade; ~a~ger windows is a compliment to the
older building than the ones first proposed
Bill Clark said this committee was not concered with FAR, building
regulation or Zoing, but with, the code and the guidelines
this committee is asked to follow; And are these changes of such
a nature, that require a Public Hearing £or due process?
Before this committee is a building that has been approved
but this is not the building plans before us now, and the
owner at one time did not want to build. Eleti east chimnley,
larger windows, wood inbetween with earth tone in color,
the building would be redwood; Stairway outside becomes an inside
entry; Taking this building with the changes, bring it up to
grade. The roof was a shake and now a metal- seam roo£.
Exhibit C is all the purposed changes with the building
above grade. Colette Penne said it is enough change that is major
to require a Public Hearing.
