The Historic Preservation Committee held its regular meeting August 24, 1982 in the Council Chambers. Present were Mona Frost acting chairperson, Terry END, Connie McCrudden, Gretchen Greenwood, Ricard Cicero, Nick Pasquarella, Bill Drueding, Georgeann Waggaman, Colette Penne. Trift Shop Preliminary Review for the Trift Shop by J,R. McCarthy, Architect;The Tri£t Shop is part of the master plan for the firehouse property, and the fire district in years to come; With trying to keep the cost down the planned building will be made of a block material between Little Cliff's and the Fire station, the building will be set back some 50 feet with a garden effect surrounding it; The over all height will be 13' 10", and t~ey will come back to this committee with the type of block which most likely will be a 8 by8" in size and the color scheme J.R. McCarthy said. They would like to keep the park look and extended out to the street of Hopkins with the greatest width o£ the park or garden there, a bench for people to use would be in this so called garden, and the Firebell would be located in this park also, with a more of a path leading up to the Thrift Shop. This item does have to go before P.Z. and the Council yet; The Public Hearing was set for September 14, for this Preliminary Approval of the plans for the Trift Shop for conceptual approval was made be Gretchen Greenwood, seconded by Connie McCrudden, all in favor, Motion Carried. item. Fire Station Colette Penne, mentioned that the final approval should be given for the firehouse which is already under construction, There was some confussion as to getting the approval, It will be of the same material, cinder block and the same color, it is just an extra bay they are adding on to the present fire station. A motion was made for final approval of the firestation, one bay addition by Ricard Cicero, seconded by Nick Pasquarella, Ail in Favor, Motion carried. Mill& Hopkins Isis Building Preliminary review for the MS11 and Hopkins buildin~ was asked to be put on the agenda by Connie Mc Crudden 7 seconded by Gretchen Greenwood, Ail in favor. Larry Yaw rep senting Craig Woods, owner spoke to the HPC committee on the plans for the Mill and Hopkins building by the Isis.the Proposal is to res%iin the block that now exist on the building, in a terracotta hew, the site plan shows the strip of land that extends out to the street to be cover with b~{~k to the curb .'R£card Cicero moved to approve preliminary approval for the Mill and Hopkins Street Isis Building for the paving or bricking and the staining in the terra cotta range of color, Georgeann Waggaman seconded, Ail in favor one opposed, Terry End, Motion carried. Public Hearing set for September 14, 1982. Last item on the agenda was to inform the members of the Colorado Historical Society's Workshop which will be in Denver on September 20, and the one in Aspen on September 27, and 28th, which Colette Penne will be speaking at.
