HomeMy WebLinkAboutminutes.hpc.19820914RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS 100 Leaves The Historic Preservation Committee Regular Meeting ~14, 1982 Chambers The Historic Preservation ~ormmittee held its regular Meeting on August 14, 1982~ in the City Council chambers; Present were acting chairperson, Georgeann Waggaman, Nick Pasquarella, Terry End, Gretchen Greenwood,Richard Cicero, Colette Penne, and Bill Drueding. The meeting open to a Public Hearing for grade consideration by Bill Wesson, for the new building at 605 W. Main. Other items concerning this building have been approved previously by the 605 W. Main HPC members. Asking for a shingle roof instead of a metal roof and Bill Wesson to build this building above grade and still be under the height requirement. The Pub].ic Hearing close.; Gretchen greenwood meved to approve the plans o£ bringing this building above grade, and still be under the height requirement level and approval for the single roof; seconded by Nick Pasqua~t~a, all in £avo~ 4 members opposed Ricard Cicero, Motion carried. Public Hearing open to the facade changes of O. Leary's Pizza Pub building, Welton Anderson was unalbe to attend this meeting and had O' Leary's A1Cunningham speak, on his behalf. The awnings will be a Kelly Green but no samples were given to him to bring to this meeting, Public Hearing closed. Terry End moved to approve with the condition of smaples be summitted to this committee £or the awnings and granted also was the windows and french door, seconded by Richard Cicero, all in favor, motion carried. Public Hearing and final review o£ the fire station addition by Jerry Mc Carthy, comming before this committee again, but with no changes in the plans and the brick wall this committee Thrift Shop suggested to screen off the alley is included in these plans, to house the thrift shop; Georgeann Waggaman moved to approve the plans, and to have McCarthy come back at a later date with the samples of block and color; seconded by Nick ~squarel~a, all in favor, motion carried. Public Hearing and final consideration for the tinting of the NE corner of Mill and Hopkins by Larry Yaw; The committee has asked to make a site visit to see four tints put on the building ; Approved was a brownish tint that will cover the existing grey cinderblock , all in favor, motion carried. Larry Yaw Bldg. Mill & Hopkins New Business Spence Schi~er for the aspen Grove Building asked for approval of two blue canopies, the members discussed the concept of a canop~ effect, not approving of either choice, Spence Schiffer said he would come back on September 28, for the next meeting. Aspen Ski Co. Bldg. Aspen ski company building upgrading of the southface( alley side) by Andrew Dracopoli, on the preliminary review. Preliminary approval was granted for the Aspen Ski Company Building with a Public Hearing set for Octomber 1, 1982. The alley faces Rubey Park Parking Lot, the roofline will be changed the exterior stairs, the bricks will match the bricks that are already on the building; Motion made by Nick Pasquarella, seconded by Gretchen Greenwood, all in favor, motion carried. Consideration of the proposed color scheme for the house at 135 E. Cooper by Bill Mitchell; Historically known as the Dixon house, the colors would like to be changed from the present mustard, olive, and burgundy to the victorian cornflower blue and white as they say the house was once before; Also a porch is being added to what some call the carriage house, but really is properly named a summer kitchen stated Nick Pasquarella correcting Mr. Mitchell term. Last was the pliminary review of the Sha£~ upgrading, Bob McGraw, representing the Detroit Muir Corporation, stated that the building could never be brought up to code, and will be replaced with a new building in a few years; They would like to remove the miner's bulletin board, which is the "grandfather' board; a new roof tine will help the building look like one instead of the two which includes Father ~iles, the suggestion of a barn red standard seam roof was shuned as far as the color was concerned. In addition windows will be added along the front and west side. Preliminary approval was given for this project as summitted and set for Public Hearing by Richard Cicero, seconded by Gretchen ~ Greenwood, all in favor, motion carried.
