Aspen Historical Preservation Committee, Special Meeting, June 19, 1979
The Aspen Historical Preservation Committee held a special meeting on June 19,
1979, in the City Council Chambers at 1:00 PM. The members present were
Jon Seigle, Terry End, Mona Frost, Norm Burns, and Lary Groen. Staff
representative was Jim Reents.
Seigle stated that this was a continuation of the public hearing on Dr. Wesson's
Building on Main Street. Wesson stated that he would like to have sky-lights
which would be contiguous with the roof line. They would be located on the west,
alley (south), and on the east elevations. In addition they would add a
greenhouse effect which would look similar to the Wienerstube. The building
would have alot of earth colors. The glass for the sky-lights willlnot be tinted
but will have clear glass. Wesson stated that it would not change the outlook
of the building.
Seigle stated that they would like to hold him on the color rendering.
Wesson asked if he made any changes if he would have to come back. Seigle stated
that he would have to.
Groen asked if the sky-lights would be openable. Wesson stated that they would
not be openable on the outside, but maybe on the inside.
Seigle closed the public meeting considering it was opened but not closed last
week.
Groen made a motion that they approve the project as presented with the condition
that the trea~nent of the entry and the entry wall be presented to them at a
later date before it is finalized. End seconded.
Burns stated that he would like to see the final plans that are presented to the
building department for their permit. Seigle stated that he agreed with Burns.
Ail in favor. The project was approved.
Burns made a motion to adjourn. End seconded. Ail in favor. The meeting
adjourned at 1:19.
