Public Hearing
Aspen Plaza Building
Stanford explained that at the May 25, 1976 meeting
Allen Shaffer presented the initial drawings of the
Aspen Plaza Building. Discussion was held at that time
between the architects and the Bistoric Preservation
Con~ittee as to how the HPC would prefer the design of
the building. At this meeting, Allen Schaffer returned
to the Historic Preservation Committee with a complete
different set of drawings which included the suggestions an~
cor~ents of the HPC.
Jerry Michaels arrived at 1:15 p.m.
Groen opened the public hearing on the Aspen Plaza
Building. There were no public comments.
Groen asked if the detail of the iron work would be
contemporary or traditional. Shaffer replied it would
be contemporary. The window trim and the color of
the iron will be matched with the gray color of the
roof.
Groen closed the public hearing.

as shown; seconded by Frost.
Marsh resended his motion and Frost resended her seconded.
Marsh moved to accept the plans on the conditions that
the final working plans be submitted before they go ahead
with the project; seconded by Frost. All in favor,

Allen Shaffer thanked the HPC for working as closely
with him as they did; and feels the building looks much
nicer than the first building that was presented.
Paragon
Skylight
Ted Koutsobos was present to ask the Historical Preserva-
tion Committee if they had any objection to him putting
a skylight in the Paragon. Koutsobos mentioned he had
talked with Clayton Meyring, Building Inspector, and
asked if there was any problem with the skylight. Meyring
replied that as long as the skylight meets the building
code rec~]ir~entstherewouldbeno probl~. Koutsobos sent thecode
requirements to the manufacturer to make sure the sky-
light did meet with the building code requirements. The
skylight will not be visible from any streets. Koutsobos
also feels the skylight will be consistent with the
Paragon's era. Under the skylight, Koutsobos plans on
putting plants, previously all plants have died due to
lack of light. The glass will be wire mesh glass which
