Historical Preservation Committee
November 4, 1975
Meeting was called to order by Chairman Lary Groen at 4:10 p.m. with members
Mona Frost, Norm Burns, and Florence Glidden present. Also present from the
Planning Office was John Stanford.
Approval of Minutes
Groen mentioned that he had three corrections to the minutes
of October 28, 1975. The first correction was on page 2
the second line of the first paragraph should read--
replacing the existing staircase and enclose a new stair.
The second correction is on the third page the first line,
should read-- Parry presented the drawings and mentioned
that the second floor. The third correction is under
Brand Building the middle of the first paragraph and
should read where the section of the kitchen supply is is
where they plan to divide that space into two stores.
Motion
Burns made a motion to approve the minutes of October 28,
1975; seconded by Glidden. All in favor, motion carried.
Brand Building
Stanford introduced the project saying that this is a
proposal to take what was the Roaring Fork kitchen and
design it into two stores with the entrance onto Galena
Street. Burns felt that this project was a good start
in getting the Brand Building to look like one building
again; because their facade will be identical to the rest
of the building whereas the other two shop's facades are
not. Burns asked that they indicate on their drawings
that the canopy will not be put on.
Motion
Frost made a motion to approve the project as presented;
seconded by Glidden. All in favor, motion carried.
Independence
Building
Stanford said that this is a proposal to enclose with
brick that section that has been added on to the Indepen-
dence Building that provides sort of a lobby entrance hall
in the entrance way to the staircase that goes upstairs.
The brick will be matched with the brick on the existing
building.

Burns made a motion to approve the

Stanford read a memo which was presented to the Historic
Preservation Committee members, from Don Fleisher, which
stated; that the revised colors were toffee, bittersweet,
and olive green for the exterior panels. Also he is
recommending turquoise and/or blue for the trim around
the door.
Motion
Burns made a motion for approval of colors of bittersweet,
olive, and toffee to be applied in locations as presented
in drawings and recommend the door be painted the color
as the exterior of the building and that we approve
turquoise or blue for the trim provided it is lowered in
intensity or brightness; seconded by Frost. All in
favor, motion carried.
Motion
Burns made a motion to place Andre's project on the
agenda; seconded by Glidden. All in favor, motion carried.
Andres
Andre Ulrych presented his project stating the reason
they would like to move the doors over is because of the
cold air the blows into the bar during the winter. He
would like to change the entrance by moving the facade
opening one bay to the north (or to the right) and

instead of providing straight entrance from the entry,
he is providing entrance to left in the entry. This
way the door being moved in that direction will create
a buffer which will stop the cold air from blowing in.
Frost moved to allow change in door to Andre's building
from existing front to side as presented on plans;
seconded by Glidden. All in favor, motion carried.
Burns moved to adjourn at 5:00 p.m.; seconded by
