Dear Members:
The Aspen Historical Society has been participating
in the Design Workshop's study of the Marolt property
and, as a result, we are continuing to pursue the
acquisition of the Marolt Barn for the purpose of
restoring it and using it for our. Ranching Museum.
Attached is a packet of information containing the
original history, our specific plans and estimated
costs for initial restoration of the buildings.
We would request that you give us your approval in
this step of obtaining acquisition of the Marolt
Barn and the 1.9 acre site as listed in the study
information by the Design Workshop.
Sincerely,
Carl R. Bergman
President

Dear Carl
y
-
Per our conversation on June 1, following are some ROUGH ''posts that
we will be facing when we fix up the Marolt Barn:
;..
1, Redo roof: install new fascia boards - 4" urethane
insulation, plywood backing and asphalt shingles.; $12,400
21 Redo front access deck; replace existing with two
_ i aygrs of 2 X 12' s and add .fascia
3,000 ,
3. Add new steps/entry up to access deck.
2,000
4 Add guardrail to access deck.
1,000
51, Rebuild 11 windows.`
3, 300.
b. Rebuild six large doors.
3,500
7. Redp lean-to shed so that it joins the main .bui lding
-
above window level.
4,000
8. Re=tin lean -'to shed
13200
9. Redo door at shed and add landing and stairs.
1$00
10. Reside the "skirt" board around the perimeter of the
main building.
3,000
11. Underground electric line to building,
1,150
Total of items 1 through 11
$36,150
Contingency
39,850
-
$40,000 -
1 believe we can make the building presentable and functional
for
-
approximately $40,000. The roof should be insulated now so that
the ,
interior remains as is when the building is heated. We will
4
have to
refinish the walls inside when we insulate the walls and floor
for
heating purposes,
