HomeMy WebLinkAboutminutes.apz.19870707 ~ RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS PLARHING AND ZONING JULY 7. 1987 Chairman Welton Anderson called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm. ROLL CALL All members were present. COMMISSIONER'S COMMENTS Roger Hunt: Apparently the service area at the Hotel Jerome was not built correctly as presented to the Commission or is being used improperly. Today there was a semi trailer truck loading in the back of the hotel and was sticking out far enough to cross the sidewalk, the parking lane and into one driving lane and partially into the opposite driving lane. It happened just as I observed this, a woman carrying a baby had to go around the truck into the traffic and around back again to get around it. Certainly this is a safety hazard which should be corrected. Ramona Markalunas: Last Thursday there was a semi that was totally blocking Bleeker Street. Alan Richman: I will transmit this to the Engineering Department. This is in their jurisdiction. If the service area is improperly designed, they have a serious problem. Hopefully this is not the case. STAFF- COMMENTS Alan: The Clerk's Office is pursuing the appointing of a new P&Z member. It will be brought up at next Council meeting. We have listed on your next agenda a work session next week on housing. We are now going to push that back to August. Next week what we would like to do is take an hour of your time and work with you on the Marolt property. Last week at Council a variety of suggestions came up regarding the Marolt property. Mary Martin has suggested its use as a victorian storage area. The MAA has suggested its use as a campus. The Historical Society has suggested using the barn as a museum. None of these uses was contemplated in the Concept Plan which the P&Z adopted for the site. We need to brainstorm with you about the ideas that are coming forward to see if any of them make any sense to you as a group. Council has asked us to have a work session with them in August and this will give us an opportunity to discuss this issue before that meeting. David White: It seems to be a City storage area. I think we should talk about what the City Council is not able to do with open space. I am concerned about the City buying property for open space and suddenly it gets turned into a snow dump or a trash area. It is supposed to be open space and beautiful for the City. Alan: The Council approved its use as a storage area for the electrical underground equipment. Ramona: The Parks Department came before us in force about a year ago to complain about the mess which was made around the neighborhood around the golf course. Now they are doing the same thing to the Marolt property all around the barn. There are trash cans, cables, all types of storage things that they just put in there. Alan: I know that the Nordic Council has authority to store there. At this point Alan suggested that unless the Commission wanted to keep a record of the session on Aspen Code Simplification, the secretary could be excused. Roger Hunt made a motion to close the regular meeting and open the work session. Ramona seconded the motion with all in favor. Meeting was adjourned at 5:15
