Mayor Standley called the meeting to order at 4:25 p.m. with Councilmembers Behrendt,
De Gregorio, Johnston, Parry, Pedersen, Wishart, City Attorney Stuller and City Manager
Mahoney present.
APPROPRIATION FOR BUSES
Councilwoman Johnston moved that Council reconsider the vote of last night (January 12)
Bus
on the buses to be acquired for the transportation department; seconded by Councilman
Purchase
De Gregorio. Councilmembers Pedersen, Johnston, De Gregorio and Mayor Standley in favor;
rescinded Councilmembers Behrendt, Wishart, and Parry opposed. Motion carried.
Councilwoman Johnston moved that the Council not appropriate fund that were mentioned
last night and take possession of the three buses; seconded by Councilwoman Pedersen.
City Manager Mahoney told Council that this afternoon when it was clear that the Council
was not interested in these buses, Yank Mojo talked to County Commissioner Dwight
Shellman. The County system is in desperate need of these buses. Mahoney said it was
his understanding that the County will pick up these buses. Mahoney said the City
and Council needed to review the program for buses so that the Council can see what
direction they want the transportation program to go in the next six months. Mayor
Standley stated this does not mean the City does not need to acquire buses of a different
type.
All in favor, motion carried.
Mayor Standley asked that information be put together for the next Council agenda on
the transportation program. Councilman Parry was appointed to work with City Manager
Mahoney and Mojo on this program.
REVISED MALL PLAN
Preceeding the special meeting, there was a Presentation to Council and the Mall Commissio
Revised .by the planning office and the mall architects on the revised mall plan. The action at this meeting was to approve the design concept only and not to address any other
questions.
Plan
adopted Councilman De Gregorio moved to approve the revised mall plan; seconded by Councilwoman
Johnston.
Mayor Standley asked for comments on the simplified mall plan as presented to Council.
Mall Commission member Andre Ulrych objected to the fact that this plan treated every
single area the same way; every street and problem area was treated the same.
All in favor, motion carried.
Councilwoman Pedersen moved to adjourn at 4:32 p.m.; seconded by Councilman De Gregorio.
